Tchami - Biography and discography, all albums and songs

Tchami

Tchami is a French DJ, producer, and one of the creators of the future house genre. His real name is Martin Joseph Léonard Bresso, born on May 12, 1985 in Paris, France.

Tchami’s signature sound is a blend of:

  • future house
  • deep house
  • bass house
  • gospel-inspired vocals
  • church-influenced organ progressions
  • dramatic choral elements
  • warm, melodic French electronic textures

He has become one of the key figures of the new wave of European and global electronic music.

Early Years and Path to the Stage

Before becoming a renowned producer, Tchami grew up in Paris, played musical instruments, and was heavily influenced by hip-hop and electronic music.

He began his career in the underground scene, creating remixes and personal EDM experiments under various monikers.

In the early 2010s, he became part of a creative circle of French producers, where he met DJ Snake — a connection that would later play a major role in his career.

Breakthrough: “Promesses”, “Shot Caller” and the Birth of Future House (2013–2015)

Tchami broke onto the global stage in 2013 with an EP and the single:

“Promesses” (feat. Kaleem Taylor)

The track became an international hit, reaching #7 on the UK Singles Chart and surpassing 45M streams.

Together with “Shot Caller”, it helped define a new genre — future house — a combination of deep basslines, sharp synths, melodic vocals, and “falling” pitch effects.

Tchami is officially regarded as the founder and lead architect of future house.

His tracks influenced artists such as Oliver Heldens, Don Diablo, Malaa, Matroda, Joyryde, Curbi, and more.

Visual Concept: The “Priest” Persona

Tchami created a unique stage identity:

  • black attire
  • a cassock-style shirt
  • a white clerical collar
  • a mystical, minimalist aesthetic

This image reflects the spiritual nature of his music — a contrast of “light vs. darkness”, emotion, and club-focused depth.

Successor Sound: EPs, Remixes and Signature Identity (2015–2019)

  • “After Life” (feat. Stacy Barthe) — a defining track of his signature style.

In 2015, Tchami launched his own label Confession, which became a powerhouse for bass house and future house.

Artists who rose under Confession include: Malaa, Mercer, ANGELZ, Loge21, Habstrakt, Dustycloud, Matroda, and others.

The label became one of the most influential forces in electronic music during the late 2010s.

2020 — Year Zero

Featuring tracks such as:

  • “Faith”
  • “Born Again”
