Vremya i Steklo is a Ukrainian pop duo created in 2010 in Kyiv by producer and songwriter Oleksii Potapenko (Potap) and producer Iryna Horova. The project featured Nadia Dorofeeva and Oleksii Zavhorodnii (Positiff). Over ten years, the duo evolved from light youth-oriented pop toward electronic dance music with elements of hip-hop, house and synth-pop. Their best-known songs include «Имя 505», «Песня 404», «Навернопотомучто», «На Стиле», «Тролль», «ТОП», «Е,Бой» and «Дим». The project ended in 2020, after which Dorofeeva and Positiff began solo careers. In 2025, they recorded their first song together in five years, «Смак-печаль», stressing that it was a collaboration between two solo artists rather than a revival of Vremya i Steklo.
Nadia Dorofeeva and Positiff
Nadiia Volodymyrivna Dorofeeva was born on April 21, 1990, in Simferopol. Before Vremya i Steklo, she studied singing and dance, took part in music competitions, became a finalist of the television project «Шанс» and performed for several years in the group «М.Ч.С.».
Oleksii Ivanovych Zavhorodnii, known by the stage name Positiff, was born on May 19, 1989, in Kyiv. He had worked with Potap long before Vremya i Steklo was created, participating in his music projects and working on songwriting and arrangements. Zavhorodnii later also became a member of MOZGI.
Within Vremya i Steklo, their roles were not limited to vocals. Positiff participated in composing and arranging music, while Dorofeeva co-wrote the lyrics of several songs. In particular, the music for «Имя 505» was written by Oleksii Potapenko and Oleksii Zavhorodnii, while the lyrics were written by Potapenko and Dorofeeva.
Creation of Vremya i Steklo
The project was launched in 2010 within the production company of Potap and Iryna Horova. By that time, Positiff had already been working with Potap for several years, while the female vocal part was to be given to a new member selected through casting. One of the candidates was Nadia Dorofeeva, who moved to Kyiv and eventually became part of the final duo line-up.
The name Vremya i Steklo was invented by Potap. According to the members’ recollections, it came to him in a dream during a flight. The name is a play on the sound of the Russian phrase «время истекло», meaning «time has run out». Dorofeeva and Positiff initially disliked the idea, but it was ultimately chosen as the project’s name.
«Так выпала карта»
The duo’s debut song was «Так выпала карта». The track and its music video premiered on November 17, 2010. Potap wrote both the music and lyrics, while the video was directed by Oleksandra Stehanova.
The duo’s original formula was already clear in its first release: female and male vocals, Positiff’s spoken and rap-like delivery, a dance-oriented arrangement and lyrics about modern relationships. Sonically, the early material was considerably softer and closer to conventional pop and R&B than the duo’s best-known songs of the mid-2010s.
Early songs
In 2011, the duo released «Любви Точка Нет», «Серебряное море», «Кафель» and other early recordings. «Любви Точка Нет» was released on March 4, 2011.
Over the next several years, the duo regularly released standalone singles and music videos. Their repertoire expanded with «Гармошка», «Слеза», «#кАроче», «Забери» and other tracks, which were later collected on the first full-length album.
The music of this period gradually became more electronic. Positiff became increasingly involved in arrangements, while the visual side of the project developed the bright style that would later become one of Vremya i Steklo’s defining features.
Debut album «Время и Стекло»
In 2014, the duo released its debut studio album «Время и Стекло». The main digital edition was issued on September 1 and contained 18 tracks, while an expanded version appeared on some platforms. The album brought together material accumulated during the first four years of the duo’s career.
The record effectively summed up the group’s early period. By then, Vremya i Steklo already had an established audience, but their biggest commercial breakthrough would only come the following year.
«Имя 505»
In 2015, the duo released «Имя 505», the song that became the biggest hit of their career. The official music video appeared on April 9, 2015, and later accumulated hundreds of millions of views on YouTube.
The track differed noticeably from Vremya i Steklo’s earlier work. The arrangement placed a much stronger emphasis on electronic production, the vocal parts were built around short repeated phrases, and the lyrics used wordplay and numbers.
«Имя 505» won the M1 Music Awards 2015 prize in the «Hit of the Year» category. At the YUNA 2016 awards, the song was nominated for Best Song and its video for Best Music Video, while the duo itself won Best Pop Group.
«Глубокий дом» and «Песня 404»
Also in 2015, the duo released the EP «Глубокий дом». It included «Имя 505», «Ритм 122», «Опасно 220», «Песня 404» and a remix of «Имя 505».
«Песня 404» continued the use of digital references introduced with «Имя 505». The title referred to the internet error code 404, while the track itself was created in a pop and deep house style. Positiff co-wrote the music with Potap, while Dorofeeva contributed to the lyrics.
The period of «Имя 505» and «Песня 404» established the duo’s new sound: electronic pop became more minimal, more rhythmic and increasingly oriented toward club music.
«Навернопотомучто»
In 2016, Vremya i Steklo released «Навернопотомучто». The song was introduced in May, while the music video directed by Leonid Kolosovskyi appeared on July 8. The video was built around elaborate choreography, vivid sets and a constant change of the members’ visual images.
The song became one of the duo’s most notable releases after «Имя 505» and was nominated for YUNA’s Song of the Year. In 2017, Vremya i Steklo won YUNA’s Best Pop Group award for the second consecutive year.
«На Стиле»
In February 2017, the music video for «На Стиле» was released. The music was written by Potap and Positiff, while Potap wrote the lyrics. The song directly used the performers’ own stage names and the duo’s public image: «Позитив на стиле, и Додо на стиле».
This period fully established Vremya i Steklo’s visual language: brightly coloured clothing, prominent choreography, deliberately unusual colour combinations, internet slang and lyrics built around short phrases that could easily turn into quotes.
«Тролль», «ТОП» and «Е,Бой»
During the second half of the 2010s, the group continued releasing material primarily as standalone singles. «Тролль» appeared in 2017, followed in 2018 by «ТОП», «Е,Бой», «Песня про лицо» and «Финальные титры». These tracks later formed a significant part of the duo’s second studio album.
The production became denser and more strongly focused on electronic music. Dance-pop, house, hip-hop passages and synthesizer-based production were combined, while Positiff increasingly handled the rap and spoken sections.
First Ukrainian-language track «До зірок»
In February 2018, Vremya i Steklo released «До зірок», the main song from the Ukrainian animated film «Викрадена принцеса: Руслан і Людмила». It became the first Ukrainian-language composition in the duo’s discography.
Dorofeeva and Positiff also voiced the film’s main characters, Mila and Ruslan. The music for «До зірок» was written by Raphael Lake and Aaron Levy, the Ukrainian lyrics were written by Oleksandr Ruban, and the recording featured the «Virtuosos of Kyiv» orchestra.
«Дим»
In March 2019, the duo released the single «Дим». It became one of the key tracks from the final period of Vremya i Steklo and was later included on the album VISLOVO.
Unlike the more humorous «На Стиле» or «Тролль», «Дим» was built around a more melodic pop composition while retaining an electronic dance foundation.
The song received several Ukrainian music awards and became one of the central numbers in the group’s concert programme before the project came to an end.
«Голос. Діти»
In 2019, Nadia Dorofeeva and Positiff became coaches together on the fifth season of the Ukrainian television show «Голос. Діти». A contestant from their team, Oleksandr Zazarashvili, reached the superfinal and won the season.
For the duo, it became one of their most prominent television projects in which both members appeared not as performers, but as mentors to young vocalists.
VISLOVO
On July 5, 2019, the duo released its second studio album VISLOVO. The digital edition contained 14 tracks, including «Vislovo», «Balensiaga», «Fashionспазмы», «Дим», «Eleganza», «Лох», «Е,Бой», «Forever Young», «Песня про лицо», «Навсегда/Никогда» and «Финальные титры», as well as additional versions of selected tracks. Potap produced the album.
VISLOVO differed substantially from the 2014 debut album. House, electro-pop and hip-hop became more prominent, spoken and rap-style vocals were used more frequently, and the songs were created as part of an overall visual concept.
The album became Vremya i Steklo’s final full-length studio release.
End of the project
On March 10, 2020, the group released the music video for «Навсегда/Никогда», and the following day Nadia Dorofeeva and Positiff officially announced the end of Vremya i Steklo after ten years of working together.
The members explained that they had achieved what they wanted within the project and were ready to continue their professional careers independently. The decision was not the result of a conflict between Dorofeeva and Zavhorodnii: both continued to communicate and collaborate with people from the team they had worked with during the Vremya i Steklo years.
Last Dance and the final concert
The group’s final single was «Last Dance», released in the summer of 2020. The song accompanied the farewell concert project and received a music video containing visual references to earlier stages of the duo’s history.
The original schedule for the farewell tour had to be changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Vremya i Steklo’s final concert took place on October 30, 2020, at the Ukraina Palace in Kyiv. After that, the project ceased regular activity.
DOROFEEVA’s solo career
After the group ended, Nadia Dorofeeva launched the solo project DOROFEEVA. The first single of the new stage was «gorit», released at the end of 2020.
Dorofeeva later focused completely on her own discography. After the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian became the main language of her new songs. Her solo project gradually developed a separate repertoire no longer connected to the aesthetics of Vremya i Steklo.
POSITIFF’s solo career
Oleksii Zavhorodnii continued working under the name POSITIFF. In addition to solo songs, he writes music, works as a producer and continues collaborating with other Ukrainian artists.
The Vremya i Steklo period nevertheless remains an important part of his creative biography: Zavhorodnii participated in writing music and arranging many of the duo’s recordings long before launching a full-fledged solo career.
«Смак-печаль»: a joint song five years later
On July 10, 2025, DOROFEEVA and POSITIFF released the Ukrainian-language single «Смак-печаль», their first joint song since Vremya i Steklo ended.
The composition contains several deliberate references to the duo’s past, including a phrase from the title of their debut song «Так выпала карта». The music was written by DOROFEEVA, Misha Katsurin, Ivan Klymenko and POSITIFF, while Ivan Klymenko produced the recording.
At the same time, «Смак-печаль» did not mark an official reunion of the group. In the release description, the artists explicitly presented it as a meeting of two independent performers: «This is not a comeback. It is a new meeting and a new musical story.» Therefore, the active period of Vremya i Steklo remains 2010–2020, while «Смак-печаль» belongs to the post-breakup collaboration between DOROFEEVA and POSITIFF.
Musical style
Over ten years, the sound of Vremya i Steklo changed considerably. The early songs were based mainly on pop and R&B with male spoken and rap-style passages. By the middle of the 2010s, house, synth-pop and electronic dance music had become much more prominent in the arrangements.
«Имя 505» and «Песня 404» marked the transition toward more minimal electronic production. «Навернопотомучто» and «На Стиле» strengthened the dance component, while later songs such as «ТОП», «Е,Бой», «VISLOVO» and others featured increasingly noticeable hip-hop and club influences.
Language was also an important part of the songs. Potap and the members deliberately used abbreviations, English-language phrases, numbers, internet terminology and colloquial expressions. Titles such as «Имя 505», «Песня 404», «#кАроче», «ТОП» and «Е,Бой» were part of the same system.
Music videos and visual style
A significant part of Vremya i Steklo’s popularity was connected to their music videos. Particularly important was the period of collaboration with director Leonid Kolosovskyi, who directed «Имя 505», «Навернопотомучто», «На Стиле» and other works for the duo.
The videos used choreography, vivid scenography, unusual clothing styles, grotesque imagery and fast editing. Dorofeeva and Positiff were not simply vocalists: their physical performance and interaction in front of the camera became a permanent part of the group’s visual identity.
Awards
Vremya i Steklo received Ukrainian music awards on numerous occasions. At YUNA 2016, the duo won Best Pop Group, and repeated the achievement in 2017.
«Имя 505» won the M1 Music Awards 2015 prize for «Hit of the Year». The group later continued receiving M1 Music Awards and YUNA prizes, including for works from the final period of its career.

Place in Ukrainian pop music
Vremya i Steklo became one of the most prominent Ukrainian pop projects of the 2010s. During its existence, the duo went through several musical phases while maintaining the same line-up throughout its entire ten-year history: Nadia Dorofeeva and Positiff.
The most significant turning point came in 2015 after «Имя 505». From that moment, electronic production, short memorable phrases, choreography and visual style became equally important parts of the project. Later songs such as «Песня 404», «Навернопотомучто», «На Стиле», «Тролль» and «Дим» consolidated this formula.
The end of the project in 2020 closed the history of the group itself, but not the professional collaboration between its members. Dorofeeva and Positiff continued separate careers, while «Смак-печаль», released five years later, showed that they could still work together without returning to the former Vremya i Steklo format.
