Ferreck Dawn - Biography and discography, all albums and songs

Ferreck Dawn

Ferreck Dawn (real name — Freek Coppens) is a Dutch DJ and producer, one of the most consistently reliable hitmakers on the modern house scene. His signature style blends a “heavy” rhythm section, hooky grooves, and warm soul vocals; that balance of drive and melody has made him in demand on dancefloors from Ibiza to North America and Asia. Over two decades in music, he has repeatedly topped the Beatport charts, released on leading labels, and built a reputation as an artist equally confident in clubs, at festivals, and on radio airwaves.

Early years and formation

Born and raised in the Netherlands, he grew up amid a tough dance landscape — from gabber to early techno. His first experiments behind the decks were under the alias DJ Dusk, but he soon pivoted to a more musical, “soulful” house sound and adopted the new moniker Ferreck Dawn (a play on his name Freek and the word “Dawn”).

Breakthrough and rise

His early releases landed in the playlists of scene leaders, but the real breakthrough came with the 2014 single “Love Too Deep” with Redondo: the track put him firmly on the international map and led to an intensive touring schedule. What followed was a run of records that defined his recognizable sound and cemented his status as an author of big club anthems.

Defected and the “hit-single era”

His partnership with Defected Records proved pivotal. In 2018 Ferreck and Robosonic released one of the season’s most-played tracks, “In Arms” — that concise bass drive and vocal hookiness sent the record across dancefloors worldwide. In 2019 the team returned with “In My Arms” (vocals by Nikki Ambers), and in 2020 came the sleeker, more melodic “By My Side” with producer and radio host Anthony Valadez.

In 2021 Ferreck teamed up with Jem Cooke for the lyrically tinged club cut “Back Tomorrow”, a summer hit that reinforced his standing as a powerhouse of vocal house singles. In 2023–2024 he joined forces with MEDUZA and Clementine Douglas on “I Got Nothing”, then delivered his own club mix — another example of how Ferreck can tailor a radio-ready idea for the big-room dancefloor.

Crossover collaborations and remixes

In parallel, he broadened his palette through collaborations with headliners from different camps: A-Trak (“Coming Home,” then “My Own Way”), Lee Foss & Alex Mills (“The Void”), as well as joint work with Jack Back (the house alter ego of David Guetta) and GUZ (“I’ve Been Missing You”). These releases show how Ferreck pairs “tough” techno-flavored drums with emotive house vocals, while keeping an arrangement that works equally well for radio and festivals.

Stage, shows, and technique

On stage, Ferreck Dawn is all about rhythm and momentum. His sets hinge on fat drum work, tight percussion, and long groove lanes around which he shifts the mood — from soul and disco nods to sharper tech-house. That makes his performances flexible: equally at home at Defected brand parties (Ibiza, Croatia), in big festival tents, and in intimate clubs where sound detail matters.

Labels and support

Beyond Defected, Ferreck has released on Repopulate Mars, Club Sweat, Toolroom, Relief, Spinnin’ Deep, and more. His tracks enjoy steady support from top DJs and dance-format radio hosts; releases frequently reach the upper ranks of genre charts and editorial playlists on streaming platforms.

Style and influence

The key to Ferreck Dawn’s sound is percussive punch + soulful vocals. In his productions he often uses weighty low-end drums, minimalist yet roomy basslines, and short, memorable vocal phrases. The formula works in dark prime time and sunny daytime sets alike — a rare versatility that helps his tracks outlive a single season.

Today

Ferreck Dawn continues to release singles, remixes, and collaborations, touring actively and remaining a pillar of signature vocal house — an artist who skillfully fuses club-track functionality with the melody and emotion of a great pop song.
