Адаптация стихотворения Николая Михайловича Языкова "А. С. Пушкину (О ты, чья дружба мне дороже…)". Написано 16 августа 1826 года. Данное стихотворение долго ходило в списках, а напечатали его значительно позже лишь в 1871 году. Стихотворение посвящено Александру Сергеевичу Пушкину. Поводом стала личная встреча поэтов. Летом 1826 года Николай Языков гостил в Тригорском (имение Алексея Вульфа, друга Языкова). Данное имение находилось недалеко от Михайловского, где в ссылке находился А.С.Пушкин. Они провели вместе около шести недель: гуляли, спорили, читали стихи, вечерами устраивали посиделки. Именно эти совместные впечатления и тёплое дружеское чувство легли в основу текста. Реакция А.С.Пушкина была быстрой: получив стихотворение (оно было в письме из Дерпта от 19 августа 1826 года), он уже 28 августа ответил своим стихотворным посланием. Так начался их активный поэтический диалог. Личная дружба поэтов продлилась до конца жизни А.С.Пушкина.
