He has been releasing music under the FEWZ name for more than a decade. In 2016, FEWZ released several notable tracks, including Starlight and Written in Stone. Starlight appeared on digital services on October 14, 2016, with recording rights credited directly to FEWZ.
Written in Stone was also issued as a standalone electronic single. Nils Friederich is again listed in the songwriting credits, confirming his central role not only as performer but also as the creator of the material.

Levitate, Sixteen, Fragments and 2018

Levitate proved particularly enduring. It remains one of the most popular FEWZ tracks on Spotify and SoundCloud and represents his classic melodic style particularly well.
Fragments also became one of the key tracks in the catalog. Here, FEWZ’s characteristic emotional melody exists inside a relatively compact electronic form, without any need for vocals or an elaborate genre concept.
Aurora and Endless continued the same direction, strengthening the project’s recognizable combination of melodic house and more atmospheric electronic music.
Starry Eyed, Rainbow and Drifting Away
In 2019, the catalog expanded with Starry Eyed, Rainbow, Myriads and Drifting Away.
Starry Eyed received a standalone digital release and became one of the most melodic works of this period. Drifting Away, released in the summer of 2019, continued the calmer and more spacious side of FEWZ’s house sound.
This period is important because by the end of the decade, the musician had already built a substantial independent catalog, largely without a major label or a traditional album campaign.
Way of Life, Inside and Zodiac
In 2020, FEWZ began grouping tracks more frequently into small multi-track releases.
Way of Life was released as a three-track house project with a total running time of around eleven minutes. The same year also brought the two-track project Inside, featuring Somebody and Inside.
Later came the three-track Zodiac, containing Zodiac, Luna's Vanishing and Farewell. This release is a particularly good example of the more extended progressive side of FEWZ: the tracks are longer than a typical modern digital single and place greater emphasis on gradual development.
Echoes, Odyssee and Meadow
In 2021, FEWZ released Odyssee, Meadow and Echoes. The latter appeared on August 28 and gradually became one of the musician’s more prominent works on Apple Music.
The title Echoes itself fits the overall FEWZ aesthetic well. The project’s music regularly revolves around a sense of space and repeating melodic phrases that gradually change together with the arrangement.
Close Your Eyes, Tidal Flow and Nightcall
In 2022, FEWZ continued developing his own form of melodic club-oriented electronic music.
Tidal Flow was released on April 1 as a five-minute house track. Publishing information lists Nils Friederich and FEWZ. Later came Close Your Eyes and Nightcall.
Nightcall, released on December 5, 2022, is categorized by Apple Music as electronica. This classification illustrates why the FEWZ catalog should not be limited exclusively to progressive house: as the project evolved, its electronic palette became broader.
Symmetry
In April 2023, FEWZ released Symmetry. The track continued the move toward a more compact format, running for around two and a half minutes, whereas some earlier progressive-oriented FEWZ works had been considerably longer.
Despite the shorter running time, the central principle remained unchanged — the composition is still built around melody rather than rhythm alone.
All About Story
An important event in the discography was the release of All About Story on February 17, 2024.
Spotify and Qobuz classify it as an album, while Apple Music places it in the compilations section. Structurally, All About Story is indeed primarily a retrospective collection of FEWZ material rather than an entirely new studio cycle.

Alongside the retrospective release, FEWZ continued putting out new material.
Into the Future appeared on May 24, 2024. Lifeline followed in September, and Waiting arrived on October 2.
These works make the evolution of FEWZ’s modern format especially clear: the tracks become shorter and reach their central musical idea more quickly while retaining the project’s characteristic melodic quality.
Time's a Fantasy and Celestial
In 2025, the official discography expanded with two notable singles.
Time's a Fantasy was released on August 10, 2025. Running for more than four minutes, the track brings FEWZ back toward a more extended progressive structure. Digital services classify it as dance.
Celestial appeared on November 5, 2025. It is a significantly more compact electronic track, running for less than three minutes.
In February 2025, The Unknown was also published on SoundCloud. It belongs to FEWZ’s independent online catalog but is not represented on the main digital services as widely as Time's a Fantasy or Celestial.
Lily from the Valley
On March 3, 2026, FEWZ released the single Lily from the Valley. As of August 2026, it remains the artist’s latest confirmed commercial release on Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music.
The track continues the project’s central direction — instrumental electronic music in which melody matters more than a vocal narrative. Its running time again approaches five minutes, allowing the arrangement to develop much more freely than on the shorter singles of the previous period.
FEWZ as an independent producer
Most of the FEWZ catalog has been released independently. On numerous releases, the label or rights-holder line lists FEWZ or directly Nils Friederich.
One of the exceptions from the early period was Mystic Tides, released through Frequency Music; Rising was also issued in collaboration with SHOC. Overall, however, the project’s history is a strong example of the independent electronic musician model, in which an artist can build and expand a catalog for years through their own digital channels.
SoundCloud played an important role. FEWZ not only uploaded music there but also allowed some tracks to be used in user-created videos as long as proper credit was provided. As a result, early works spread far beyond the immediate audience of the artist’s own page.
