All Genres →Power Noise — The Extreme Side of Industrial Music
Power Noise (also known as Rhythmic Noise or Noize) is a powerful and aggressive subgenre of industrial and experimental electronic music, combining distorted percussion, industrial textures, and minimalism. This style emerged in the 1990s, inspired by projects such as Esplendor Geométrico, Dive, Winterkälte, Imminent Starvation, Converter, and Sonar.
Power Noise is defined by its harsh rhythm, abrasive sounds, and dark atmosphere. It’s music where emotion is conveyed through mechanical aggression rather than melody. Often played at underground raves, alternative clubs, and used as a soundtrack for experimental video art and contemporary performance.
Key Features of Power Noise:
- Distorted, “broken” percussion
- Industrial sound design
- Minimalist, mostly instrumental compositions
- Influence of techno, EBM, harsh noise, and breakcore
- BPM range from 120–150+
- Dark, mechanical atmosphere
