What is G-House?

G-House (Gangsta House) — is a style of electronic dance music that combines the groove and atmosphere of house with aggressive vocals and hip-hop aesthetics, especially gangsta rap. The genre emerged in the late 2000s and early 2010s and quickly gained popularity in the underground scene thanks to its unique sound and street vibe.

Sound characteristics

G-House music is based on heavy basslines, rough beats, slowed BPM (usually between 115 and 125), deep subs, and rap inserts, often sampling iconic hip-hop tracks from the 90s and 2000s. Vocals are usually presented as looped or chopped rap phrases, creating a gangster club underground atmosphere.

History and development

The genre initially began to take shape in France and the USA, where DJs and producers started experimenting with integrating rap samples into house arrangements. One of the pioneers of the style is the French project Amine Edge & DANCE, who coined the term "G-House" and popularized the sound on the international scene.

Soon, G-House became part of the sets of DJs such as:

  • Shiba San

  • Destructo

  • Malaa

  • Volac

  • BIJOU

  • Dr. Fresch

G-House today

Modern G-House remains in demand on the club scene and at festivals, especially among fans of dark, aggressive, yet groovy sounds. Artists continue to experiment, blending G-House with elements of bass house, trap, minimal, and techno.

The genre keeps evolving, finding new forms and expanding its audience, particularly in the USA, France, Germany, and Brazil.
