Вера Брежнева - Biography and discography, all albums and songs

Вера Брежнева

Vera Brezhneva is one of the most recognizable artists of the Eastern European pop scene of the 2000s and 2010s. A singer, TV host, actress, former member of the legendary group “VIA Gra,” and later a successful solo performer, she managed to transform herself from a sex symbol of an era into an independent music brand.

Over the course of her career, Vera evolved from a girl from an industrial Ukrainian city into an internationally recognized artist whose songs, music videos, and television projects remained an integral part of mainstream pop culture across the CIS countries and Eastern Europe for many years.

Childhood and Family

The singer’s real name is Vera Viktorovna Galushka. She was born on February 3, 1982, in the Ukrainian city of Dneprodzerzhinsk (now Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region) into an ordinary working-class family. Her father worked at a chemical plant, while her mother worked at a metallurgical enterprise. The family lived modestly, and Vera later repeatedly stated that from childhood she became accustomed to discipline and the need to achieve goals independently.

Vera has three sisters — an older sister, Galina, and younger twin sisters, Anastasia and Viktoria. It was Viktoria who later became the wife of showman Alexander Tsekalo, which brought even more media attention to the artist’s family.

In her youth, Vera was involved in sports and was interested in dancing, music, and foreign languages. At the same time, the artist repeatedly admitted that she never considered herself especially beautiful and struggled with insecurities about her appearance for a long time.

How Vera Brezhneva Joined “VIA Gra”

The story of her appearance in the group “VIA Gra” has long become part of music industry legend.

In 2002, during the group’s concert in Dnepropetrovsk, Vera came on stage from the audience to perform the song “Attempt No. 5” together with the members of the band. Later, she passed the audition to replace departing member Alena Vinnitskaya and by early 2003 officially became the group’s new vocalist.

The lineup featuring Vera Brezhneva and Nadezhda Granovskaya is still considered by many fans to be the “golden lineup” of “VIA Gra.”

Vera quickly became one of the main faces of the group. Compared to the other members, she stood out with a softer and more natural image — a combination of sensuality, an open smile, and calm charisma.

During her time in the band, the group reached the peak of its popularity. Songs such as “Don’t Leave Me, My Love,” “Diamonds,” “Ocean and Three Rivers,” “Stop! Stop! Stop!” and many others became massive hits throughout the post-Soviet region.

Leaving the Group and Starting a Solo Career

In the summer of 2007, Vera officially left “VIA Gra.” At that moment, the group was already at the height of its popularity, making her departure one of the most discussed events in the music industry.

Many expected her popularity to decline quickly after leaving the group, but the opposite happened.

Within just a few years, Vera Brezhneva managed to build one of the most successful solo careers among all former “VIA Gra” members. She actively began releasing her own music, acting in films, and working on television.

Her major breakthrough came with tracks such as:

  • “Love Will Save the World”
  • “Real Life”
  • “Good Morning”
  • “A Good Day”
  • “Close People”

Her musical style gradually shifted toward melodic pop music with elements of dance-pop and romantic pop.

In 2010, her debut solo album “Love Will Save the World” was released, followed later by the record “Ververa.”

Television and Film Career

Alongside her music career, Vera Brezhneva actively developed herself as a television presenter and media personality.

She hosted popular TV shows, participated in major music award ceremonies and New Year television projects, and also acted in films. Among the best-known movies featuring Vera are:

  • “Love in the Big City”
  • “Yolki”
  • “Jungle”
  • “8 Best Dates”

For many years, Vera remained one of the most in-demand personalities on entertainment television.

Image and Influence on Pop Culture

In the mid-2000s, Vera Brezhneva was often referred to as one of the main sex symbols of the Russian-speaking entertainment scene. She regularly appeared in rankings of the most beautiful women in the CIS, starred in glossy magazines, and participated in major advertising campaigns.

However, her popularity was never based solely on her appearance. Unlike many artists of that era, Vera managed to create the image of an “approachable celebrity” — calm, friendly, and emotionally relatable to audiences.

To a large extent, it was precisely this image that allowed her to maintain popularity even after leaving “VIA Gra.”

Personal Life

Vera Brezhneva’s personal life remained one of the most discussed topics in show business for many years.

The singer has two daughters — Sonya and Sara.

In 2015, Vera married famous producer Konstantin Meladze. Their relationship was surrounded by media attention and constant rumors for years. The couple’s wedding took place in Italy in a private ceremony.

In the autumn of 2023, the artist officially announced her divorce from Meladze. After that, Vera almost completely stopped commenting publicly on her private life.

Throughout 2025 and 2026, media outlets repeatedly reported on possible new relationships and even engagement rumors involving the singer, although the artist herself prefers not to disclose details.

Her Position After 2022 and a New Career Stage

After the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Vera Brezhneva significantly changed her public image and creative direction.

The artist began using the Ukrainian language more frequently, supporting humanitarian initiatives, and gradually distancing herself from the former Russian-speaking media space.

In recent years, Vera has been living between Ukraine and Europe, working on new music and, according to media reports, considering the development of an international project under the name VIRA.

The singer herself admitted that the last several years became a period of serious personal transformation and a complete rethinking of life.

Vera Brezhneva Today

Today, Vera Brezhneva remains one of the most famous Ukrainian pop artists of her generation.

Despite dramatic changes in the entertainment industry, shifts in the music market, and years of intense media attention, she managed to preserve her recognition, audience, and status as one of the major stars of the post-Soviet pop scene.

Vera Brezhneva’s story is an example of a transformation that is quite rare in show business — an artist who survived the peak popularity of a legendary group, built an independent solo career, endured public crises, and still remained a prominent figure in the music industry more than twenty years after first appearing on stage.
