Early career
Yevhen Hrynevych began performing as a DJ in 2002. He played his first sets at student events before becoming a resident at several Ukrainian clubs. This stage of his career was associated with the DJ Burzhuy alias, under which he worked on the Ukrainian house scene, performed in clubs and at festivals, hosted a radio show and published his own versions of various tracks.
DJ Burzhuy’s repertoire was dominated by house, progressive house and more energetic forms of club music. Surviving recordings document his appearances at the White Nights festival, Kiss FM events, Kyiv clubs including Saxon and D.Fleur, and other venues. Under this name, he also hosted Epatage Radioshow, whose episodes were broadcast through Radio Intense.
Radio Intense
In 2013, Hrynevych launched Radio Intense together with Spartaque. The platform was initially created to publish performances by Ukrainian DJs, but gradually developed into an international video project specialising in professionally filmed DJ sets. Radio Intense sessions are recorded in clubs, studios, festivals and outdoor locations in different countries.
Several years later, the partnership between Hrynevych and Spartaque expanded into the management of the IAMT and Codex Recordings labels. Area Verde and RIM later joined the structure, while the related projects were brought together under the IAMT Music Group name. Radio Intense materials referred to Greenjack as Spartaque’s business partner and a co-owner of the group.
Greenjack is currently listed on the official Radio Intense website as its CEO and curator. He also manages Area Verde Music. The label system connected to the project includes Area Verde, Saturate, Almar and RIM.
Transition to the Greenjack project
As his musical interests changed, Hrynevych moved away from the house sound associated with DJ Burzhuy and turned towards harder techno. Greenjack became the primary name for his production work. The former official DJ Burzhuy YouTube channel directly identifies Greenjack as the artist’s new name.
The name Greenjack combines elements of the musician’s first and last names: a shortened form of his first name resembles the word “Jack”, while the beginning of his surname sounds similar to the English word “green”. The artist himself gave this explanation in an interview with Radio Intense.
The first notable releases under the new name appeared during the second half of the 2010s. In 2017, Greenjack and Spartaque released Berliner Goes Rave through Codex Recordings. This was followed in 2018 by Metropoly, Sonar and Take More, a collaboration with Alan Wools. In 2019, Greenjack recorded Kevlar with Ukrainian DJ Xenia, also released through Codex.
Releases from 2020 to 2021
In 2020, Greenjack’s discography expanded with a series of techno releases. Aileron, Underframe and Rafter appeared on IAMT, while Soda and Fidelity were released through Codex Recordings. German project Teenage Mutants produced a remix of Rafter.
During the same year, Greenjack and Spartaque released Fabula through Monika Kruse’s Terminal M label. The track became one of Greenjack’s first releases for an independent European techno label not directly connected to IAMT Music Group.
The collaboration with Spartaque continued in 2021. The two producers released Work It and Eternity, while Greenjack’s solo catalogue was expanded with Back to Rave, Grumble and Thirty Six.
The material from this period is largely rooted in direct, club-focused techno. The arrangements feature dense rhythm sections, industrial timbres, short vocal phrases and clearly defined climactic passages designed for techno sets.
Melodic techno and progressive house
In the early 2020s, Greenjack’s sound became noticeably more melodic. Alongside techno, his releases began to feature elements of progressive house and melodic techno, including extended synthesiser lines, arpeggios, atmospheric transitions and a more gradual development of musical themes.
In 2022, Greenjack and Spartaque released the collaborative track Together, while Keep It appeared among Greenjack’s solo works from the same period. In 2023, he released The Face and Mission: Control through Area Verde, as well as At Night on Siona Records. Greenjack also produced a remix of ODYSSAY’s Running for the Saturate label.
The release of At Night established Greenjack’s connection with Siona Records, the label founded by Miss Monique and focused on melodic techno and progressive house. His work with Siona continued in the following years.
Releases from 2024 to 2026
In 2025, Greenjack released The World Is on Fire with Ukrainian producer Boosin through Area Verde. A separate remix release followed later. In November of the same year, Greenjack, Spartaque and As Ide presented the single Broke up with My Bf on SPRMCY.
On January 2, 2026, Greenjack and Xenia Dia released the single You Don’t See Me through Area Verde. On January 30, the two-track collaborative release Enigma, created with UTOPIA, appeared on Siona Records. These works continue the melodic side of Greenjack’s catalogue and his ongoing collaborations with Area Verde and Siona Records.
Musical style
Greenjack’s catalogue covers several distinct stages. His early performances under the DJ Burzhuy name were mainly associated with house and progressive house. The first Greenjack releases developed a harder techno sound characteristic of IAMT, Codex and Terminal M. Over time, melodic techno and progressive house became increasingly prominent in his music.
Greenjack’s current productions are generally built around a straight four-on-the-floor rhythm, evolving synthesiser sequences and gradual arrangement development. Vocals are most often used as short phrases or processed samples. A significant part of his material is designed for extended club sets, so transitions and climaxes develop more slowly than in conventional festival EDM.
At the same time, the artist’s discography is not limited to a single genre. Fabula, Rafter and Fidelity belong to his techno period, while At Night, The Face, You Don’t See Me and Enigma are closer to melodic techno and progressive house.
Performances
Greenjack has performed in Ukraine, Spain, Germany, France, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. Venues listed in his official biography include Hï Ibiza, Pacha Barcelona, Input in Barcelona, Phantom in Paris, Het Sieraad in Amsterdam, Roxy in Prague, OST in Berlin and Heaven in Kyiv.
Barcelona has become the main centre of his performing and executive work. Radio Intense episodes are recorded there, Greenjack performs in the city, and Area Verde Music develops its activities from Barcelona. His video catalogue includes sets filmed at Pacha Barcelona, near the Sagrada Família, in the Forum district and at other locations across the city.
