TIK (Sobriety and Culture) — a Ukrainian folk rock / pop rock band from Vinnytsia, founded in the 2000s and becoming one of the most recognizable groups thanks to their vivid image, ironic lyrics, social satire, and the unique style of frontman Victor Bronyuk. Their songs “Oleni,” “Vchytelka,” “Sosiura,” “Alkohol,” and “Bazaar” became nationwide hits and brought the band wide popularity across Ukraine.
Formation of the band: 2000–2004
The story of TIK begins in the dormitory of Vinnytsia State College No. 1. In the late 1990s — early 2000s, two students —
Denys Repey and Victor Bronyuk — decided to create a music group. That was when the name “TIK” was born, meaning “Sobriety and Culture”.
The first songs were performed within a small circle of students. Because of studies, the band existed for a long time as a creative initiative without ambitions for a big stage.
Formation of the lineup and early changes (2003–2005)
In 2003, the band was joined by:
- Oleksandr Fylinkov
- Kostiantyn Terepa
In the spring of the same year, TIK resumed rehearsals. At one of the performances, Vinnytsia producer Oleh Zbarashchuk appeared by chance. Although the performance was not a revelation for him, the unusual energy and humor of the band seemed promising — and he decided to give the young musicians a chance to appear on a bigger stage.
June 2, 2005 — the official birthday of the band
On June 2, 2005, TIK performed as the opening act for the band “Talita Kum” in Vinnytsia — and literally blew the audience away. This date is considered the beginning of their professional career.
After the concert, cooperation with producer Zbarashchuk began:
- participation in city events
- expanding the repertoire
- first photoshoots
- recording demo material
Later, the band was joined by Yuriy Martsyniuk, enriching their sound with keyboards and saxophone.
First studio recordings and work with Vitaliy Telezyn (2005–2006)
The album demo accidentally reached well-known sound producer Vitaliy Telezyn, who had previously worked with: Vopli Vidopliassova, Okean Elzy, Druga Rika.
Telezyn saw potential in the band and offered to record material at his studio “211”.
At the same time, the lineup experienced changes: guitarist Kostiantyn Terepa left, temporarily replaced by Oleksandr Pinchuk.
Lineup renewal and the “second birth” of TIK (spring 2006)
In spring 2006, significant changes occurred:
- keyboardist Yuriy Martsyniuk left
- guitarist Denys Repey left the band
Only two members remained from the original lineup.
Auditions were organized. By May 2006, the lineup was renewed:
- Serhiy Fedchyshyn — bass
- Yevhen Zymkov — keyboards
- Yan Nykytychuk — trumpet
On May 26, the presentation of the new lineup took place in Zhytomyr.
At the same time, studio work on the song “Oleni” continued.
National success: “Oleni” and the album “LiteraDura” (2006–2007)
In the summer of 2006, TIK recorded material for their debut album “LiteraDura” — an explosive mixture of folk, punk rock, humor, and social satire.
In September 2006, the song “Oleni” entered national rotation and immediately caused a huge reaction.
In November, a music video for the track was released — and it quickly became a hit.
The reaction was mixed: some listeners were shocked, others delighted — but no one remained indifferent. The song became the first major victory for TIK.
In spring 2007, the video “Vchytelka” was released, and in May — the long-awaited album “LiteraDura”, including 11 songs and 2 music videos.
The album cemented the band’s status as one of the brightest new acts on the Ukrainian music scene.
Further development (2008–2020s)
After the success of their debut album, TIK actively toured across Ukraine and abroad, releasing new songs and videos. The band became frequent participants in festivals, city events, and TV shows.
TIK’s music is characterized by satire, elements of folk theater, Bronyuk’s recognizable voice, social themes, humor, and parody.
The group developed its own distinct style, difficult to confuse with anyone else on the Ukrainian scene.

The group managed to bring the Vinnytsia cultural flavor to the national stage and create songs that still sound on radio, festivals, and in folk cover versions.
TIK is a unique phenomenon in Ukrainian music, a blend of self-irony, sincerity, and strong energy. Their songs became part of cultural heritage, and Victor Bronyuk’s image turned into a symbol of kind humor and folk wisdom.
